Not up to 24 hours plus after the supposed ceasefire by both federal government and leaders of the insurgency group, Boko Haram, various communities in Borno State have recorded another attack.
The insurgents reportedly killed about 40
individuals including septuagenarian father of Goni Ali Modu, immediate speaker of Borno State House of Assembly on Friday, the day the ceasefire was to start. Abadam village, a border community located about 200km north of Maiduguri, Borno State was reportedly attacked by the terror group, killing about eight persons and leaving several others injured.
Countless number of others were said to have fled their homes for safety. The community is one of the border community that is literally cut off from the rest of the state by desert sand dunes.
Nigeria Politics Online gathered that couple of minutes after the attack, the gunmen returned to the town to fight members of the Civilian-JTF
who had come to pick corpses of slain persons for proper burial.
The second attack resulted in a bloody shootout between the insurgents and the Civilian-JTF, which claimed more lives including members of the Boko Haram.
In another related event, it was also reported that dozens of gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram have taken over Abadam.
They were said to have been in Abadam since Thursday but finally hoisted their flags on Friday after killing many prominent people and forcing others to cross over to Niger.
